Just 3 miles from Somers Wood is the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre (NEC) staging over 180 world famous exhibitions each year. Crufts Dog Show, National Motorhome & Caravan Shows, The British Motor Show, and leisure shows like the Spring Fair are examples. The NEC's Genting Arena is renowned for blockbuster celebrity concerts and national sporting events while Resort World Leisure is an ideal night out.

It's 12 miles to Birmingham's Grand Central Plaza, Mailbox and Bull Ring shopping malls. Birmingham is a clean, modern city with great nightlife and international shows or sporting events at the Barclaycard National Indoor Arena (NIA). The International Convention Centre overlooks a canal hub that joins miles of canalside walks and cafes. Attractions include The National Sea Life Centre, Jewellery Quarter, Science Museum and Cadbury World.

Coventry, 6 miles from the park, is the birthplace of UK's cycle and motor industry, see it at Coventry Transport Museum. Coventry Cathedral stands beside the ruins of the medieval cathedral destroyed in World War II air raids. Close to the Cathedral are 11c. remains of St Mary's Abbey, where Lady Godiva is buried. Coventry is a multi-cultural city with good shopping, bars and restaurants to complete your visit.

Warwick Castle

Warwick Castle, 14 miles, is one of England's best preserved medieval castles dominating the town of Warwick from magnificent grounds on the bank of the River Avon. Home to the Yorkist 'Kingmaker' Richard Neville and Richard III during the Wars of the Roses, its armouries, dungeons and state rooms bring history to life. Warwick is a picture book of historic buildings and there is Warwick Racecourse in the centre of town.

Stratford-upon-Avon , 22 miles, the Warwickshire birthplace of William Shakespeare. Visit his tomb in Holy Trinity Church on the River Avon nearby the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre. The town is built of half-timbered houses dating from the 16th cent. Stroll on the riverside, take a boat trip and visit Stratford Markets, Stratford Racecourse, the Ragdoll shop, Butterfly Farm and Teddy Bear Museum. Stratford-upon-Avon is a great day trip.

The National Motorcycle Museum (3 miles), Drayton Manor Park and Zoo, Tamworth Ski and Snow Dome, The Belfry Golf Course (hosts to the Ryder Cup) and Kingsbury Water Park & Wildfowl Reserve are all within easy reach of Somers Wood.
