Access Statement
We strive to ensure that all guests can enjoy the facilities, surroundings and ambience of the park. Our aim is to offer a warm welcome and to help in any way we can when you are planning your visit and during your stay with us.
1.0 Pre-Arrival
1.1 Somers Wood Caravan Park caters for caravans, motorhomes, folding campers and trailer-tents with some pitches suitable for the larger American RV style of motorhome.
1.2 This website has full details of park facilities, local attractions, a booking form and online booking facility.
1.3 Our staff are happy to advise on the location and suitability of our pitches to meet your needs. Specific pitches or areas can be requested when booking and we do our best to meet these requests. We take a deposit to secure your reservation which, in the event of cancellation, is non-refundable.
2.0 Arrival & Car Parking
2.1 The park is accessed via a security gate. It will open automatically when reception is OPEN. When reception is CLOSED please contact the duty warden via the telephone number displayed on the sign at the park entrance.
2.2 There is a parking area alongside the Reception Office.
2.3 A ramp with a slight slope leads to the Reception door which opens to a width of 70cm (27.5″). A second door can be opened to give a width of 142cm (56″).
2.4 The Reception counter is 110cm (43″) high with an access door for staff to assist guests as required. There is room within the Reception area for a wheel chair to manoeuvre and turn.
3.0 The Caravan Park
3.1 The park is virtually flat throughout. The roadways throughout the park are made up of a firm base with a topping of stone chippings.
3.2 All 48 pitches are hardstandings made up of a firm base and a topping of stone chippings. Rock pegs will be required. There is space for an awning on all pitches on the hardstanding area of your pitch only. (No awnings on the grass)
3.3 Vehicles can be parked on your pitch in front of your unit.
3.4 Our team of wardens will assist in setting up your caravan or motor home on request.
3.5 All pitches have a 10 amp electric hook up.
4.0 Guide to Park Facilities.
4.1 We have a fully fitted, separate disabled shower/WC facility located close to reception. The entrance is flat and accessible by wheelchairs.
4.2 The park has a centrally located toilet and shower block, accessed via a short and gently sloping concrete ramp. At the entrance to both Ladies and Gents facilities there is a step measuring 8cm (3″) and a door 79cm (31″) wide.
4.3 All toilets and showers have level entry with a small ledge of 12cm (5″) to step into the actual shower area. Toilet doors open to a maxi-mum of 55cm (22″).
4.4 Both the Ladies and Gents facilities, feature 3 showers, 1 private wash cubicle, 2 wash handbasins, 1 hand dryer and 1 hair dryer.
4.5 There are 4 fresh water points strategically placed around the park plus an additional tap with a reel hose attached for refilling motor home tanks at the motor home service point.
4.6 Enclosed dishwashing area is situated to the rear of the facilities building and is accessed via a short concrete ramp.
4.7 The Laundry is located at the rear of the facilities building. A coin operated washer and tumble dryer are provided.
4.8 A cassette chemical disposal point is located by the facilities building. We do not have a drive-over chemical waste dump for American RVs.
5.0 Around The Park
5.1 A centrally located cabin offers information on local places of interest, places to eat, take-away food delivered to the park, public amenities in the area and directions to supermarkets and caravan accessory shops.
5.2 There is a seating area next to the cabin and many bird feeders around the park attracting a wide variety of our feathered friends.
5.3 A footpath leads to the adjoining golf club and fisheries. The golf club bar is open to non-members and welcomes dogs.
5.4 On the opposite side of the park, another short footpath leads onto a traffic free service road which is a safe place to walk dogs as well as being a more tranquil route to the nearby village of Meriden.
5.5 Both these short footpaths are made up of bark chippings. The golf club, fisheries and the dog walk can also be reached via tarmac roads from the caravan park main gate.
5.6 Mobile telephone coverage is mostly good and there is a payphone in Reception.
5.7 WiFi is installed and coverage is available throughout the park. To use the wifi, a card can be purchased from Reception, with prices varying according to the length of time you require.
6.0 Pet Policy
6.1 We welcome well behaved quiet pets! Dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times whilst on the park and on your pitch. Under no circumstances allow them near any adjacent pitches next to you. Do not leave your pets unattended at any time. Please respect your fellow guests by not allowing your pets to be a nuisance.
6.2 Kennel Services, including day care, are available locally. Please ring the park on 01676522978 to obtain up to date information.
7.0 Public Transport
7.1 The X1 Express Bus operates to Birmingham and Coventry from Meriden (approx. ¾ mile from the park). An hourly service to Coventry, Hampton-in-Arden and Solihull stops within a few hundred yards of the park.
7.2 Frequent train connections throughout the Midlands & UK are available from Hampton-in-Arden and Birmingham International Stations.
